The CrossFit Games 2021 are on the horizon, and many of the participants are incredibly excited. Besides the usual competitions like the men's, women's events will also take place. We all know about the Reebok's equipment, Pegboard contest, cutting system, and women's event. However, we don't know much. Continue reading to find out! Keep checking the CrossFit news section for the latest updates about the competition.
Women's competition
This morning, the women's competition began at the 2021 Crossfit Games with the swim event. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski took the overall title after she held her lead through the entire competition. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.
The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. The field includes nine athletes, including a 19-year-old powerhouse who won the competition in Australia last year. Kara Saunders, an Australian athlete who finished second in Australia in the team division and eleventh overall in 2020 is another contender. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.
Pegboard contest
The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr won 30 of the Games' most events, setting a new record. Sager won Event 11 and became the Games' third winner. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. The competitors compete by holding two wooden stakes between their fingers. The competition was intense, and the athletes left feeling satisfied after completing their Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will use a cutting system again for individual competitions. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. The question is: How will CrossFit adjust points after cuts? The scoring table used to determine the winners in the 2019 games was very similar to the one used to determine the losers in 2021. This is why it's most likely that the current system will be used.
This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. The top 30 then compete in a sprint couplet to determine the top ten. From there, the top 20 athletes compete in the remaining six events. Veteran Games participants criticized Castro's system, claiming that the cuts were too drastic.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announces new CrossFit Games clothing, shoes and other equipment. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They're made to fit multiple fitness needs. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe. The shoe's upper is made from DuPont's Kevlar material, which promotes durability and breathability. The shoe's responsiveness can be enhanced by its firm midsole and RopePro Tech.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. The Games have been sponsored by Reebok for over a decade, and it's now clear that the company's involvement will be decreasing. Reebok won't be funding the Games' prize fund, but will continue making all athletic apparel and equipment worn athletes by, including the Reebok gear. The company will no longer call itself the "Reebok CrossFit Game", as it currently does.

Do I need to exercise every day?
No! You should do at least 30 mins of moderate-intensity activity 5 days per week. That could mean walking fast enough for you to get slightly out of breath and biking hard enough for you to sweat.
Can I consume alcohol while working out?
Yes. Alcohol has increased energy expenditure, speed up recovery time, and reduced soreness.
Additionally, alcohol can increase insulin sensitivity and make it easier to absorb glucose.
However, alcohol can lead to dehydration that can slow down your metabolism. It also reduces testosterone production, which may decrease muscle-building potential.
It is important that women refrain from drinking alcohol before they exercise. Women who have consumed a lot of alcohol should wait at most 24 hours before working out.
Women who are nursing should avoid alcohol as much as possible.
Men should only consume one drink per day.
