health tips for students

The Yoga Sutras Of Patajali, a collection comprising 196 Sutras in Sanskrit, is called the Yoga Sutras. The texts were compiled in the early centuries CE by sage Patanjali, who synthesised the wisdom of the older traditions on yoga. These sutras, which were initially a work-in-progress, are now considered one the most important sources worldwide for practicing yoga.

The Yoga Sutras are comprised of four chapters. The first one is devoted to enlightenment and the next four chapters discuss the process to reach the goal. The 52 sutras detail the benefits meditation, kriyas and niyama (pilates) have. The 54/55 sutras detail Ashtanga and Karma yoga. The two last sutras describe the benefits of meditation on a regular basis.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are considered to be the foundational text for yoga. They contain 196 verses and are the basis of the practice. While they are thought to date back 400 B.C. many scholars believe Patanjali is not the creator of Yoga, but rather a great teacher of the art. The sutras can be divided into five levels or padas.

Samadhi is the eighth limb. This state of pure contemplation and meditation is the highest goal in yoga. Nirbija, also known to be seedless contemplation or the state of complete separation from the spirit, is described in the Sutras. This means that the mind can be freed from any ego and matter.

However, it is not essential for the Yoga sutras. There is some disagreement over the translations of the Yoga sutras, but the text is the core of the book.
